Free Crop Date Correction

Sorry for the confusion! The correct dates for the next Open Crop at My {Scrappy/Crafty} Home is SEPTEMBER 5, 6, & 7. Click here for all the details!

Sail Away Masculine Birthday

Here's a card suitable for those special men in your life!

The new Seaside paper collection from Close To My Heart is one of my all time favorite sets! If you visit my home you will find the collection colors of Glacier and Desert Sand featured in several rooms I painted in 2011. It may have new names this season, but the teal/tan palette has been around for quite awhile. In fact, our 1994 Southwind motorhome is decorated inside and outside with this same palette :)

The sailboat image and birthday greeting are both stamped from the Seaside Greetings set using Glacier and Desert Sand ink pads.

Using the Stitch Guide and Piercing & Embossing Tool Kit for even spacing I attached 3 brads from my stash.

For the inside, I stamped "Happy Birthday" from the Joyful Birthday set in Desert Sand ink onto Colonial White cardstock and added a piece of Seaside paper.

This card workshop will be available for $3.00 at my September events. Thanks goes to my CTMH sister Allisa (rockymtnpapercrafts.blogspot.com) for the card design.

Seaside Greetings Sympathy Card

It's an unfortunate fact of life that bad things happen to good people. At a time like that it's nice to have some cards made from the heart ready to send.

This card workshop will be available in September at any of my events. I love the ocean and am calmed by the sound of the waves coming to shore. The Seaside Greetings stamp set brings that memory alive with this pastoral lighthouse scene. Paired with a verse available in Look To The Light, this card conveys a strong sense of empathy to its recipient.

I stamped the images with Chocolate and Sky (retired - for clouds) ink pads. To keep the colors in the soft, muted palette of the Seaside paper collection I used Watercolor Pencils along with the Blending Pen to add a touch of Crystal Blue and Chocolate to the seascape. Using the Edge Distresser, I roughed up the edge of the top piece before layering it with coordinated cardstock. A single Bitty Sparkle 'lights up' on the lighthouse and four 4mm Sparkles accent the front of the card.

A third set, Big Hug, is used for the inside sentiment. Along the bottom is a piece of one of the Seaside paper's Zip Strip. All of the CTMH patterned papers have an extra 1/2 inch strip that is coordinated with the theme and when removed makes a great embellishment for cards and scrapbook pages.
This card workshop will be available at any of my September events.

Spooky House Scene Card

Here is a large 5" x 7" card made with Black & Sunset cardstock cut from the CTMH exclusive Artbooking Cricut cartridge and layered on the Scaredy Cat grid paper.

The inside is embellished with a kraft sticker from the Scaredy Cat Complements and another bat cut from Artbooking. Thanks to fellow CTMH consultant Pam Thorn for the inspiration for this card.

This card workshop is only available as a $3.00 add-on to the Scaredy Cat "Halloween" workshop since it uses leftover kraft stickers for completion.

Scaredy Cat "Halloween" Scrapbook/Card Workshop

This workshop includes a double-page layout and four cards featuring the Scaredy Cat Paper Pack, Complements, and Assortment.

The following companion cards were made using additional card stock and patterned paper and the leftovers from the full pack of the Scaredy Cat Complements and all but one piece (pumpkin face) from the Scaredy Cat Assortment. In addition, each card is finished on the inside using more coordinated pieces, zip strips, Cricut cuts, and/or stamping.

All cardstock and Scaredy Cat paper collection pieces are pre-cut including the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cuts. Additional embellishments include Black Glitter Trim, Black Striped Ribbon, and baker's twine.

This cost for this workshop is $25.00 which includes all materials as stated above, use of my inks and stamp sets, tax, and shipping/handling costs. This workshop does require a 10-day advance notice prior to scheduling or completing at a crop. If desired, I will schedule weekday afternoon or evening workshops for a group of three or more.

Scaredy Cat "Frightfully Cute" Scrapbook/Card Workshop

This double-page layout features the Scaredy Cat paper collection, the Scaredy Cat Assortment (metal pumpkin & black stars), Black Striped Ribbon, and the Halloween Greetings stamp set using Black and Sunset Ink.
If this layout is combined with the Scaredy Cat "Halloween" workshop it is only an additional $5. However, to complete this as a stand alone workshop the cost will be $12 but you'll receive a full pack of the Scaredy Cat Assortment.

These Scaredy Cat "Frightfully Cute" cards were so fun to create! My favorite characters are the happy ghosts but they are all just fun, fun, fun! Wishing I had young grandchildren to send them to...guess I'll have to set one aside to send next Halloween to my new great-grandchild coming in February :)

These adorable characters are all included on the Frightfully Fun set along with tiny greetings to perfectly pair together. Some of the characters were stamped on Colonial White cardstock then colored using the ShinHan TwinTouch markers and others were stamped on colored paper or cardstock then fussy cut. Feel free to do both or pick your favorite style while completing this workshop. Other features on the front and inside of these cards were fussy cut from the Scaredy Cat graphic print paper (top right).

This card workshop is only $8 to complete all four cards (includes all pre-cut materials, embellishments, use of stamps/ink, tax, & S/H). A limited number of individual card kits will be available for $3 per card.

Please comment below if you are interested in getting this pre-stamped workshop by mail.

Happy 'Owl'oween

Only one more week to purchase the What A Hoot stamp of the month!

I loved paper piecing this adorable owl using the Scaredy Cat paper collection and several of the 17 pieces included in this 6" x 6" clear acrylic stamp set.

The bats and moon were cut using the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge. Several pieces were colored with the ShinHan TwinTouch Peony Purple and Marigold alcohol-based markers.

Here's the finished inside with the "Hoot" again colored with our ShinHan TwinTouch Peony Purple and Marigold alcohol-based markers:

In addition, I used two Bitty Sparkles for the owl's eyes, the Corner Rounder for the label, and Archival Black Ink to complete the card.  All items are available 24/7 at wendyh.ctmh.com  This card will be available to make at any of my events in September, but remember, if you want this stamp set to keep, it has to be ordered NLT midnight MDT on August 31st.

Only 18 weeks till Christmas...Yikes!

Yeah, I know it is a little early to start thinking of Christmas (heck, it's STILL summer...right?!) but here's a little preview of the beautiful holiday collections from Close To My Heart.

Yuletide Carol is a muted, vintage Christmas palette of Black, Champagne, Colonial White, Desert Sand, New England Ivy, and Ruby.

The Yuletide Carol Complements have 2 - 12" x 6" sticker sheets and the Yuletide Carol Assortment is a 12-piece set of printed wooden shapes, antiqued gold metal shapes, glitter gems, and a resin flower.

The sentiment stamp on the money holder card on right is Noel (C1598) - set of 6. The card is embellished with gold Shimmer Trim and four Bitty Sparkles.

The cool winter palette of the card on the left is called Snowhaven. Doesn't the pattern remind you of a thick blanket or sweater? The colors of Black, Cranberry, Glacier (new color), Whisper, and White Daisy represent to me the vision of a winter day sitting in front of a toasty fire with a cup of hot cocoa to warming my hands and body.

The Snowhaven Complements are 2 - 12" x 6" chipboard sheets and the Snowhaven Assortment is a 10-piece set of resin shapes (4 large, 6 small).

The stamp set used in the Snowhaven card above is Best Christmas (D1613) - set of 10 with one Art Philosophy coordinated image.

Winter is coming!
