Do The Twist

When you're celebrating someone special, you need décor to match! Make your own—and make it unique—by curving, bending, wrapping, angling, curling, and coiling Slate striped twist ties into decorations. Click here to watch this episode.

 

What a great episode! Christine & Monica demonstrate several new techniques using our Slate striped twist ties. The ties with the embeded wire makes it easy to connect and hold your projects. Wrap them around a pencil to make a curl that holds and holds. Want to coordinate them with your décor? Color them using our markers (lighter markers work the best).

The ties have been colored with a yellow marker then curled. Below that is our Slate houndstooth fabric from Sparkle & Shine Textiles using the technique demonstrated in the video to stiffen the fabric making it perfect to twist around the top of the Burlap Drawstring Bag and hold its shape.

Do you recognize that layered looped 'ribbon' underneath the tag? I would have never guessed that could be done using our Slate Polka-Dot Washi tape! What an economical way to multiply the uses of our 15-yard rolls of Washi tape ($4.95 each) using the 7" long twist ties ($3.95/20) to stiffen and shape the tape into position.

 

Well, I'm headed off to make my own twist ties creations. Can't wait to share them with you! I would love to see what you create also :)

 

 

 

For Always "Sweet & Lovely" Workshop

The For Always paper collection from Close To My Heart is so versatile. Almost any color can be coordinated with the black & white patterns in this pack. Here I've used our Sorbet cardstock and ink to bring out the colors in the blouse my niece is wearing for these portraits.

This workshop is designed for 3 4x6 and 3 4x4 photos and utilizes all three CTMH Cricut collections...Artbooking, Artist, and Art Philosophy...to make the coordinating design elements.

The "Lovely" was stamped using one of the stamps that come with the Artbooking collection and the black frame is cut using the Black & Grey Glitter Paper pack. Featured here also is the Slate Polka-Dot Washi Tape. 

The photo above show two more stamps in the Artbooking collection. The small heart with floral pattern and the journaling stamp that fits perfectly in a frame from Artbooking. Clear Sparkles adorn the hearts on both pages and also on the title.

Sarita "Summer Fun" Workshop

The Sarita Collection features the cool Southwestern colors of Lagoon, Goldrush, & Outdoor Denim with pops of Cotton Candy and Gypsy to make a beautiful background for summer, water, travel, and everyday paper creations.

My Sarita "Summer Fun" Workshop is now available for $8.00.

This workshop has a Lagoon base with Cricut Artbooking cuts using Goldrush for the sun and Outdoor Denim for the photo mats. The photo mats are on pages 52 & 53 of handbook and are designed to be pages in a 6x7" Summer Mini-Album, but they work on layout pages like this also. The words "Summer" and "Fun" are actually cut-out from the photo mats then scraps of Goldrush have been attached behind to fill-in the letters with color. As an afterthought, I should have pop-dotted up the mats from the Goldrush backing to add dimension.

Also included in this workshop is 26 inches of Outdoor Denim Chevron Ribbon, Goldrush fabric from Sarita Textiles for making the ribbon ties, and five bling gems. Also available as an option is the Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel at $3.10 for adding shine to the sun rays and Chalk Marker at $3.30 for adding 'stitches' to the banner flag (this marker works great on any dark paper as well as our Chalkboard Sheet).
